Retirement

How did it become okay to stockpile capital and then spend all of it on your personal leisure for as many of your latter years as possible? How did this become a worthy pursuit? I understand that some retire from a job to pursue another passion but I just don’t get freedom 55 that leaves me lying on a beach for the rest of my life. Life needs purpose. Doesn’t matter what it is, but it needs a purpose, it needs to contribute.
